My sister and me at last year's Arthritis Walk.
Arthritis is a serious and sometimes deadly disease. Today, 1 in 5 people suffer from the pain of arthritis. Many of them are kids like me.
I love to ride my bike, dance, swim, rollar skate and act on stage. Unfortunately, sometimes my arthritis makes it too painful to do the things I want to do.
I recently spent the better part of a month in my wheelchair and in pain because of a bad arthritis flare. I missed almost month of school and hurt too much to hang out with my friends. It was awful.
Now I’m feeling better and stronger. I’m back in school and doing well. I’m one of the lucky kids.
I am taking on a personal challenge to make a difference in our community by participating in the Arthritis Foundation's Arthritis Walk. Thousands of people across the country will join together to help improve the lives of 46 million Americans affected with doctor-diagnosed arthritis.
I need your help. Help the Arthritis Foundation take steps toward finding new ways to prevent, control, and even cure the more than 100 forms of arthritis and related diseases. I am living proof that the medical community is making a difference in combating this disease. I’m taking some of the newest medicines available. When I take my medicine, I do pretty well. When I have to skip my medicine, I end up in pain and usually back in my wheelchair.
Now my arthritis has spread to my arms and shoulders. I’m not sure what’s next for me. But I’m a fighter and I’m committed fighting this stupid disease. Please fight with me.
